Tuia 250 Flotilla
On Friday the 8th of November we walked from Paihia School to the Waitangi Marae to see the Tuia 250 flotilla. Our teachers decided that they could took two different groups of students down to Waitangi at different times. There were students that left with one teacher at 8 o’clock and also another teacher taking students down at 9 o'clock. Once we left the school we made our way down to Waitangi where we saw so many people and different boats all lined up in the water. The kids who came down at 8 o’clock watched the different boats arrive in Waitangi which was an amazing experience. Our school stayed and watched the Maori entrance that they had performed for us. I found it really interesting. As they finished we decided to stroll along the beach and try to memorize the names of the waka. The names of the waka that traveled here are Va’a Tipaerui, Waka Hourua, Ngahiraka Mai Tawhiti, HMB Endeavour, R. Tucker Thompson and the Spirit of New Zealand.
