What Do You Think About Paper Castles ?

 Here in Te Ngahere we have been doing maths. Our goal was to use the correct measurements to create a paper castle. We first had to get into our maths groups so we could decide and share what we learnt. My group started off by practising how to draw straight lines to match the examples. I decided to make the wall sections while the other group members make the square tower and the circular tower’s. I personally enjoy doing this maths because it helps me to understand measurement. What I found difficult was to draw symmetrical lines because I couldn't tell if the lines were straight or not. Have you made a paper castle ? 

What I learnt from the Kawa of Care

 Here in Te Ngahere we have been doing Kawa of Care. Kawa of Care is the rules of looking after your chromebook. If you do not follow any of the rules from the Kawa of Care the end result will most likely be that your chromebook is broken that's why we have to look after our device carefully. I personally enjoyed explaining what I learnt from the Kawa of Care. I have created a presentation to explain the do’s and don’ts of looking after your chromebook.

My Digital Mosaic Art

Here In Te Ngahere we have been doing art. Our aim was to create a mosaic. I decided that my art was going to be based on a dog, the first thing we had to do was get a photo of what we wanted our art to be of. The next step was to outline the photo using polyline. I personally think mosaic’s are very difficult to do because you have to use many shapes that are different sizes and to also change the colour. After I had outlined my dog I used polyline to create different sized shapes inside of my outline but making sure that the shapes aren't far apart or to close together. I personally enjoyed this type of art because I got to experience something new.  Do you like art ? Here is the mosaic that I had created?

The Wonder Project

Here in Te Ngahere we had two special visitors come into our class to introduce the wonder project, their names were Troy and Gustavo. Throughout the introduction I had learnt a lot of new things, like that red kiwi fruits are getting sold at supermarkets. After Gustavo and Troy told us a little bit about themself we had to get into groups of 3-5 people and make a copy of a google drawing that had a reflection sheet on it so we could fill it out in our groups. Troy and Gustavo wanted to try and interest more kids into science and technology because we do not have as many scientists. Troy is a stormwater engineer and Gustavo is a fruit/plant engineer I personally enjoyed learning a bit about science and how fruit grow but I am excited to be building bottle rockets because I get to experience something new. Do you like science ?

Tidy Numbers

In Te Ngahere we have been learning about multiplication and rounding numbers to a tidy number. We started off learning what tidy numbers were and how to round numbers to a tidy number. Tidy numbers are numbers that can be halved and can also end in zero. I personally thought that the questions were kind of easy but I first had to understand the proper way to round a number to a tidy number, for example: 48 x 7, first you would have to round one of the numbers to equal a tidy number. You can round 48 to 50 which gives you the remainder of 2. Next you would times 7 by 50 which equals 350. Now that you have your total of 350 you have to times the  7 by 2 which is 14. 350 - 14 = 336. I personally found some of this maths quite difficult because i didn't really understand it at first but after a bit of practising I finally got the hang of it. Do you like maths ?

Tik Tok Movements

Here in Te Ngahere two girls from our class took the opportunity to teach the whole class two tik tok dances for our school assembly. When we first got told that we had to do tik tok dances for assembly I wasn't really confident. Through all of our practises I started to get more into it and I was not as shy as before.  The two girls who taught the class the dances were very patient and also very clear at explaining what to do. I personally enjoyed doing tik tok dances and it was a very great experience. Do you like tik tok ?

My Poupou Art

Here in Te Ngahere we have been doing art. We had to design our own Poupou representing ourselves. We first had to practise our draft on a A4 piece of paper using pencil, we had to sketch our drawings lightly because if we made a mistake it would be alot easier erasing it instead of erasing dark bold lines. I found it difficult to get some of the lines symmetrical. I personally enjoyed art but the layout of this art was very confusing for me as we had to make sure that everything matched up to the opposite side. The next thing we did was drew patterns on our pou, Since we were colouring our pou in pastel I had to practice my blending on a scrap paper so that I knew how to blend colors before I started on my good copy. I was so nervous when I was doing my good copy because I was scared that I was going to mess up. I really enjoyed doing this art but next time I could add more detail.
