Car Trip writing

In Te ngahere we got to read a very interesting article about four kids stealing a four wheel drive. We first had to ask questions, which was very easy because the article had many things that you wanted to find out. We then got to choose a piece of the article to write about and try to explain what happened in our own words. Our writing had to be in the present tense.  Here is my writing.

As the sun rises at dawn, the young kids drive away realising that they need petrol for their 4 wheel drive. The sky is nothing but shades of grey. “Instead of wasting our money why don't we just steal the petrol” says Dillan with a giant smirk on his face.
“if it means that I can stay in the car and watch out for unwanted people” replied Lincoln
“I agree with Lincoln, what if the police catches us,” says Brooke.

Dillan and James decided to throw their seatbelt off and stroll over to the entrance of the gas station hoping that no one was watching them. Brooke and Lincoln pressed their hands against the window and gazed at the sky thinking about what would happen if they got caught. Brooke leant over to her left and noticed that Dillan and James were holding a 3 litre black bottle of petrol. “They’re back” shouted brooke as she points towards Dillan and James. James partly opens the door to the passengers seat as Dillan is nervously filling the gas tank with half a bottle of petrol that they stole. James sat himself down in the passenger seat with a fearful look on his face.

The kids were driving the backway to Grafton, all the kids see is nothing but flashing lights. The sky is misty and dark. All the kids besides Dillan looks back and see two male police making their way to  get to the car as Dillan steps on the break. James and Lincoln looked very guilty while Brooke was trying to hold her tears back. Dillan sat there and didn’t realise that the police had wanted to talk to them so Dillan shouted out “Lock your Doors” then Brooke started Bawling her eyes out as she has never experienced something this frightening. All the kids refused to come out so the police aggressively started to shatter the back window where Brooke was sitting. As broken glass was flying all around the place Brooke started to cry like there was no tomorrow. Dillan shouted “stay together guys”

Science Fair

Here at Paihia School, Te Ngahere have been creating and designing boards for our school science fair. Every student in Te Ngahere had came up with something to do for our science fair, the topic we had to base our science off was real world problems. My friend and I had worked on our science fair testing in the holidays to make sure that we knew what we were doing. Mostly everyone had finished their boards so we took our boards over to the whare, so we could set them up. I was so excited for the judges to come around and ask us questions. At first I didn’t feel that confident but as we got through the day I started to feel very confident but I just didn’t want to get my hopes up. The judges were looking for a clear hypothesis, clear aim and lots more. Once the bell rang for lunch time everyone couldn’t wait until assembly because that is when the judges announce the winners. As I heard mine and my friends name get called out for first place I didn’t believe it, I really enjoyed our school science fair. I can’t wait for the next science fair in 2020.
