Nevaeh's Geometry

In Te Maunga we have created a google drawing and on that google drawing we put all of the things we have learnt in geometry, like the difference between a parallel line and perpendicular lines. We learnt about angles like 360, 180 and 90 percent. The thing I found tricky was trying to figure out how many sides are on different types of shapes like a square, diamond, cone, cube and lots more. I really enjoyed learning new things.

Procedural Text

In Te Maunga we have been creating lots of procedures based on our different topics like maths, reading and lots more. We learnt how to set out a procedure and it was quite easy but once you do lots of procedures you will get the hang of knowing how to set out a procedure. After we got through our first procedure Mrs Pou ield lots of workshops which helped our writing make more sense and made our writing sound more interesting. I think that when you have someone to help you it makes the job so much easier even if you have to write a very long procedure. I think that next time I will  have to work on evidencing my procedures. I really enjoyed writing lots of procedures because we have been writing lots and lots of recounts and narratives we wanted to learn something different and we did. We have been so caught up in procedures we know straight away how to set a procedure. The thing I really liked was that most people helped each other so no one was not finished. I also liked how we made the things that we were writing about. Then we wrote about the topic. My favourite would have to be making pikelets because they were honestly delicious. I was really proud of how the pikelets turned out. I think that my least favourite experiment was the flubber because the flubber didn’t work so in our procedures we wrote down that the flubber did not work but the flubber was really fun to make.

Making Flubber - Nevaeh

In Te Maunga we have been doing lots of experiments inspired by the things we have been learning in our maths problem solving. We have written lots of procedures but we have been trying to make flubber or slime. Our problem was that we had to work out the precise measurements like how much glue do we add? How much borax and water do we add. So we had to work all of those things out. We made flubber because of our maths problem solving. The flubber DID not work because we added too much water to the flubber which made the flubber liquidy. I learnt how to add the fractions together to make different answers like ¼ + ¼ = 0.5 at the start I thought that it equaled ⅛ but it didn’t so I think that I learnt something new. I found working out the fractions very hard and I don't think I found anything easy. But the best thing is we tried to make flubber and it was really fun.
