Summer Learning Journey

Here in Te Ngahere we have been practising for the Summer Learning Journey. We started off by doing the teaser week. The teaser week has many different activities for students; it is a type of trailer so that people know what the Summer Learning Journey is about. If you complete most of the activities you get points and in 2020 we find out the winners. I am very excited for the Summer Learning Journey because it is my very first time. I want my leaning to be successful and to not drop off over the summer. That is the purpose of the Summer Learning Journey. You can win many prizes which is so exciting for all of the students. I can’t wait to start the Summer Learning Journey. This was the fist activity I did. I had to find out information aout Lorde.

Tessellation

In Te Ngahere we have been creating tessellations. We first started off by answering easy questions which relate to tessellating. We had to find the meaning behind tesselating, translation, rotation, reflection and symmetry. Tessellation is an arrangement of  one shape that are fitted close together without showing any gaps. We decided to create a tessellation using quadrilaterals. The shape that I decided to use looked almost the exact same a boomerang, but I had rotated the shape to line up to the rest of the shapes so I am not showing any gaps. Here is the tessellation that I have created.
